FAMILY Game Night…

YEAH RIGHT!

*Emily’s POV*

I strided into Molly’s bedroom, scooting board games at my feet.

Because tonight, was going to be the funnest Parker Family Game Night EVER!

“Guess what today is!”

Nobody guessed.

“TODAY, is the Funnest Parker Family Game Night EVER!”

Grace and Paisley managed a few half-hearted “yay…”‘s, but I ignored it.

I brought out one of our jack-o-lantern buckets filled with names, for teams.

Amelia was…out…

Samantha had her nose in a book, and “Team Speedy Unicorn” consisted of Ellie, Paisley, and Grace, most likely named by Paisley.

“Team Majestic Ninjas” was lead by Kit, while Saige complained and Molly shout out random jokes from Harry Potter.

We dove into Blokus, and I played the old-switcheroo with Samantha’s book and the instructions.

*Note from Samantha the human:  I’ve never played blokus and the instructions are too hard to read, so I guessed on how to play it.  Just so you know!*

“So, um, basically you just have to be the first one to get your pieces to the other end of the board before the other team does, in the least amount of pieces as possible.”

She abruptly went back to her book after she flicked the instructions back into my reach.

 

We divided the pieces amongst the teams.  Team Speedy Unicorn took the red because it was closest to pink, while Team Majestic Ninjas took the blue, because Saige insisted it would match the patriotic thing going on in the room.

We started to lay down pieces, and before we knew it, Team Speedy Unicorn was close to victory!

The Ninjas placed a few pieces, but the couldn’t block the unicorn’s winning move…

The Speedy Unicorns took part in a Blokus Victory dane, Maryellen scooting across the carpet, Grace Waving her arms, and Paisley twirling like a ballerina.

Suddenly, Molly climbed on top of her dresser, “Maryellen, you…YOU MUGGLE!”

Everyone gasped at the comment that went back and forth between the two fangirls.

“YOU LITTLE… Spawn of You-Know-Who!” Maryellen returned, headbutting Molly, and before the two broke out in a brutal nerd-fight, Ellie sat down…

“Molly, I challenge YOU to a game of UNO!!”

All of the other sister braced for the worst as Molly quietly shuffled the Uno deck.

After a few minutes of tense Uno-ing, it all came down to a blue 7 on the deck, Molly with two cards, and Ellie with Uno.

And suddenly…

Molly flipped her card…

AND IT WAS…

A SWITCH HANDS CARD!

Molly won by switching with Ellie, who had the Uno of a blue 8.

Many more Harry Potter insults were exchanged, until I calmed Ellie down by letting her choose our movie.

Paisley sat in the other room watching tinkerbell while we watched…

Mean Girls!

By the time the movie was over, Sam put down her book and said, “That was SO Fetch!”

We all shrieked in unison, “Stop trying to make Fetch happen Samantha, it is NOT going to happen!”

*You won’t get that reference unless you’ve watched Mean Girls*

“Ok everyone, let’s um… clear out!”

A chorus of “Oh that was fun I guess” sounded out, and everyone was bout to get up until someone came bursting through the door.

“I made it Emily!” Amelis shrieked.

Oh no! I thought…

 

“Wait…” Paisley began while plopping down on Saige’s lap, “You made what Amelia?”

Amelia looked at me with cold eyes…

“You haven’t TOLD them yet Emily?”

“N-no…” I replied shakily.

“Um, you see guys… Amelia is really smart, you know?”

They all nodded, while Paisley shouted out, “She has a 4.6 GPA!”

I smiled proudly, “Right.  So she was invited to present a science project to Cinnamon Halls Boarding school…”

Amelia took off her black glasses she only wore on special occasions.

“And they accepted me!  It’s only 30 minutes away, and-”

She was cut off by being engulfed in a hug…

And it spread.  ❤
